Saint Valentine´s Day

Postales Románticas IFeliz Día de Los Enamorados

 Saint Valentine´s Day.

Saint Valentine´s Day is the most romantic day of the year all over the world. For our students it is a very important day where they can give way to their emotions. When we celebrate this event we usually use several activities such as reading and writing love poems, listening to love songs and even writing friendship cards or even love cards. Also there is a tradition amogst the teachers of English to pay attention to popular love sayings as these ones:

I claim there ain't
Another Saint
As great as Valentine.
- Ogden Nash.

Love me and the world is mine.
- David Reed.

Life has taught us that love does not consist in gazing at each other but in looking outward together in the same direction.
- Saint-Exupery.

Better to have loved and lost, than to have never loved at all.
- St. Augustine.

Sympathy constitutes friendship; but in love there is a sort of antipathy, or opposing passion. Each strives to be the other, and both together make up one whole.
- Samuel Taylor Coleridge.

Love - Románticos - Amor - San Valentín
Some of the songs we have used with our students this special day are:

WHEN YOU SAY NOTHING AT ALL by RONAN KEATY.

Christmas time / Noël

Christmas Time  is one of the most international events all over the world. Every year families celebrate Christmas' Eve and New Year's Eve in the different continents according to their religion and tradition with some differences amongst the different countries.
In the IES Sierra Almijara we also celebrate this popular tradition with our students with different events. First, we celebrate an International Gastronomic Day in which our students bring desserts of different countries. Second, our students participate in a Christmas Cards Contest.

(Source: www.momes.net)

      Halloween

Halloween is an Anglo-american tradition that has spread quickly throughout the whole European continent. The night of halloween people usually do follow the trick or treat  tradition around the world. In the IES Sierra Almijar halloween is also very popular. The students in the different levels participate in different contests such as the caving of the jack-'o-lantern and the Halloween Stories Contest.
These are the winners of the different contests:
      1. Contest of the Carving the Jack'o lantern:
      - Alicia López Bueno.
      - Ainhoa

      2. Halloween Stories Contest:
